Spravato (esketamine) therapy

Spravato (esketamine) is a derivative of ketamine, FDA-approved for treating treatment-resistant depression and suicidal ideation in Major Depressive Disorder. Patients receive Spravato (esketamine) as a nasal spray at our clinic. Its effects are similar to ketamine, and treatment costs are covered by insurance.

Ketamine therapy

Ketamine offers new hope for adults living with depression, PTSD, anxiety, OCD, or suicidal thoughts. At Lumin Health, we provide an initial course of twice-weekly ketamine treatments with follow-up sessions as needed. Ketamine has the transformative potential to relieve symptoms of mental illness, provide new perspectives, and enhance overall wellness. Please note that we offer intramuscular ketamine injections and do not offer intravenous (IV) ketamine infusions.

How We Meet

Schedule a phone consultation and we'll discuss care, what treatment looks like, matters pertaining to eligibility,  steps in the process of getting started, and expected results. Consultations typically last 15-20 minutes.

Following the consultation, if appropriate, we will schedule you for a medical necessity evaluation to determine if ketamine or Spravato (esketamine) is right for you.  Next, routine medical clearance and collaboration with relevant outpatient providers will take place.

Ketamine
is provided in an “index course” of treatment, consisting of 6 to 10 ketamine treatments. Following that, ketamine booster sessions are scheduled on an as needed basis – for some, regularly scheduled appointments are necessary.  For others, follow-up sessions are scheduled if symptoms return.

Spravato (esketamine) is provided as 2 treatments per week for 4 weeks. If Spravato (esketamine) has not been helpful in this initial course of treatment it will be discontinued.  If it is helpful, then once-weekly sessions are scheduled for one month, and once-weekly or every-other-week sessions are scheduled thereafter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does insurance cover ketamine or Spravato therapy?
Spravato (esketamine) is FDA-approved and covered by most major commercial health insurances, including BlueCross and Mass General Brigham. IV Ketamine is often considered off-label and requires out-of-pocket payment, though superbills can be provided for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We verify all benefits before starting.
What does a ketamine treatment session feel like?
Patients typically sit in a comfortable, private room for about two hours. You may experience a floating sensation, deep relaxation, or mild dissociative effects. A medical provider monitors your vitals and comfort the entire time. You must have a driver take you home afterward.
Am I a candidate for ketamine therapy or Spravato?
These treatments are primarily for individuals who have tried at least two different antidepressant medications without adequate relief (Treatment-Resistant Depression), or those suffering from severe Anxiety, PTSD, or OCD. A full psychiatric evaluation by our team will determine if this path is safe and right for you.
